Remember when Martin Luther King Jr. urged the disenfranchised, 15% of the population, to relax and leave their aspirations for equality in the hands of the Democratic party leaders? Remember the speech he gave at Hunter College on Human Rights day? Remember the line, “Let my people go, but only a few at a time because covering all at once is too idealistic and impractical? There are obvious reasons from a noneconomic standpoint why we should have some sort of universal health care system in the U.S. There are also good reasons from a macroeconomic standpoint, primarily that there are significant administrative cost savings. By now, it should be clear that neither the Republicans nor the Democrats care at all about you. The GOP (Greedy Old Party) has always been known to be the enemy of the regular Joe, but we had been deluded into thinking the Democrats were the Party of the People. Wrong. If you are not among the super-wealthy, they want to kill you too.

Anyone who will tell you to stop crying is in denial of their own humanity. It’s as absurd as pushing pharmaceuticals to prevent suicide before asking a suicidal person, “What’s wrong?” It’s the same flawed logic that makes this society such a wretched place to exist.
