Alice in Wonderland

I'm sure many of us grew up with our parents and grandparents reading us the story of Alice in Wonderland: a story about a girl who magically enters the land where things are not what they appear to be. In fact, everything is the opposite—wrong is right, right is wrong, left is right, right is left, and so on. Much like the United States today.

For many years, our government has worked to make us believe that they are always doing what's right for us. As someone who studies history, I began thinking very hard and long about this subject. So I did some research, and here's what I came up with.

As you know, every day we are inundated with media reporting acts of violence and terrorism all over the world, and even in our own backyard. We see this played out again and again in the media, but we as a country never ask ourselves whether these acts of terrorism are true or whether some of it is just government propaganda. I believe that we need to wake up and realize that a good portion of what the mainstream media presents to us is a lie.

Let me explain. In the 1960s, the US Department of Defense, along with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, came up with a plan it called Operation Northwoods, which was to be carried out by the CIA and other US government operatives. It was a false flag attempt to convince America to go to war with Cuba by staging phony terrorist attacks both on land and at sea, even to the point of killing innocent Americans. Thankfully, at that moment, we had a president who said he would not agree to the operation—President Kennedy never implemented Operation Northwoods. Now, I believe a new type of Operation Northwoods is in full effect. I believe that these current terrorist attacks are orchestrated by the CIA, the NSA, and other government agencies. The purpose for this I believe is two-fold: first, to keep the war machine going because war is profit and both the right- and left-wing warhawks prosper off the misery of others. It is my fervent belief that our government is working in the shadows to do this, and while many of you may think it cynical and possibly untrue, I implore you to do the research and see for yourself. I explore this topic because I believe that this country is headed down the wrong road. The US government is making Americans afraid to do anything to speak out and stand up for what they believe in. I've heard it said in so many ways: "well, if we say something about this group or that group they may attack us." But you see, America, that's the second part of what they want us to do: to be afraid because fear is one of the key elements of terrorism.

So we must ask ourselves, are these things really happening? We as Americans must wake up. Stop listening to the mainstream media news propaganda driven by the government machine that tells us what to think, what to do, and what to say. Along these lines, Operation Mockingbird was the goal of yet another government operation conceived by the CIA in the early 1950s. in short, it was designed in order to use the media as a propaganda machine, which it has so successfully become. Just like Alice in Wonderland, where everything is backwards and they spoke in Jabberwocky, so do we in this country when we blindly follow a government that has done nothing but lie to us, threaten us, and murder many of our young men and women who serve this country honorably every day. The government and media have smoothly sold these attacks of US terrorism to the American people while our young men and women are losing their arms, their legs, their lives, and their souls for those who do not care about the lost leg, the lost arm, or the destroyed body. All they care about and all that they will ever care about is the profit they can make.

I believe we would be a better nation—a stronger nation—if we would just stop listening to the mainstream media and the parade of propaganda that continually comes out of it. There are so many sources of good information available with the click of a mouse that you don't need to listen to mainstream media. There are many people out there telling us the truth. One of them is Real Progressives. I encourage you to listen to people like Steve from Real Progressives and the fine array of guests that he regularly interviews. The only way we're going to fix this problem is to stop feeding the monster and listen to those who tell us the truth, whether we like it or not. Because in the end, the choice is truly ours. Either we listen to those who speak the truth and educate us, or we continue to listen to the Jabberwocky. Our government that keeps telling us terrorism is just due to "evil people in the Middle East." Yes, there may be some evil people in other countries who will do evil things, but if you keep hitting the hornet's nest you will get stung time and time again. In the end, the choice is clearly ours. So we can educate ourselves and move forward or blindly go down the rabbit hole. Only you can decide. Remember what Shakespeare said in Julius Caesar: "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves."
